SOCmeservice assurance, quietly working
All stories / A safer next step
03 / Need a safer next step

When you do not feel safe

Something around you does not feel right. You need support, privacy and control over what happens next.

This is what thoughtful, permission-based support could look like in an ordinary moment.

THE MOMENT

Small support. Your choice.

Safety is different from motivation. Signal should not try to diagnose the situation, guess who is responsible or automatically tell another person. You can open a discreet, user-initiated space and see the options you have chosen in advance.

That might mean opening a safety plan, bringing up a trusted contact, finding a service, saving information for later or simply closing the screen. You decide what is safe to do and when.

Sending a message, sharing a location or involving another person requires explicit approval and the right authority. If there is immediate danger, seek local emergency or trusted human support. Signal is not an emergency service and should never pretend to be one.

A POSSIBLE NUDGE

“Would you like to open the support options you chose?”

WHAT HAPPENS BEHIND THE SCENES

A connected response, not an automatic chain.

These are different responsibilities working together. The person stays at the centre and every action remains bounded by permission.

01 / SELF + CONSENT

You set the boundary

The person chooses what support options are available, which channels are safe and what must never happen automatically.

02 / SIGNAL

Respond to what you tell it

A direct request or self-report can open the support path. The system does not need to infer danger from private behaviour.

03 / SIGNLY

Present discreet options

The interface offers the options you selected, without pressure, repeated alerts or unnecessary disclosure.

04 / CHOICE + SNAP

Keep every action under your control

A message, location share or other external action requires explicit approval and appropriate authority.

05 / PROOF + NO

Respect limits and stop cleanly

No means no. The system records only what is necessary and permitted, and provides a clear way to stop or leave.

WHAT MATTERS

A safer next step may be information, a trusted person, a plan or simply the ability to leave the experience without being followed.

The boundary

Signal is not a crisis service, safety guarantee or substitute for human help. It must not disclose your location, contact someone or escalate on your behalf without the required permission and authority.

S
WHERE SOCme FITS

Service assurance without personal surveillance.

SOCme receives the bounded Speedo output and approved service-health events only. Safety plans, private messages, contact details and the raw ambient stream stay outside that channel. The Speedo output is not shared onward.
